"New American research shows that there could be a link between the controversial MMR triple vaccine and autism and bowel disease in children.
The study appears to confirm the findings of British doctor Andrew Wakefield, who caused a storm in 1998 by suggesting a possible link.
Now a team from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine in North Carolina are examining 275 children with regressive autism and bowel disease - and of the 82 tested so far, 70 prove positive for the measles virus.
Last night the team's leader, Dr Stephen Walker, said: 'Of the handful of results we have in so far, all are vaccine strain and none are wild measles."

Poor Doc Wakefield has been having a terrible time, people have been trying to discredit him. Looks like someone agrees with him. Good luck to him!! 8-)

I know this is a bit irrelevent, but I don't believe in autism. I was diagnosed with a form of autism in 2007 simply because I stopped being sociable and I like my own things, and I tend to get obsessed with things from time to time. It seems everything considered "different" has a mental disorder label on it.. you like to keep your bedsheets as clean as possible? You have "Obsessive Compulsive Disorder". Difficulties with reading and mathematics? You have "dyslexia" but oh no, it can never be your teacher or schools faults for being rubbish!

The worst thing about mental disorders is, once you're diagnosed you're tossed into the Mental Health System. A system where doctors, social workers and psychiatrists can imprison you at will by Sectioning you under the Mental Health Act. They say there is a "strict criteria" (harmful risk to self and others) for this yet they still do it at will to patients who are noncompliant.

Kryspy, I must say that you do put forward a good point there. It's true there is a lable for everything now!! I had trouble with my daughter when she was at middle school. The school didn't like the fact that she didn't like to put her hand up and ask many questions etc, like that was a crime. She actually was a quiet girl and I suppose maybe that was what it was. The school wanted to observe her and I said no way, in the end they gave up but I had to have meetings for quite a while but I always stood my ground. In the end she was off this list or whatever it was, I must add I was furious!! Turns out she is a very clever girl and has had opportunities at High School that not all will have, she's now at college. I think the establishment would like everyone to be exactly the same and act the same, what planet are THEY on?!!! THEY also want to take all parential rights from us drip by drip!! 8-)

Well done. I'm glad.

If the school had their way with her, they probably would've dumped her into the "special ed" department of the school, where they also put people with 'ADHD' (kids that are hyper and less settled than most, however that isn't a crime, imo it just requires a patient and understanding teacher who understands children) and it badly effects their education. There was this girl in my secondary school who wasn't even going to sit her GCSE's because the school didn't want to risk having a black patch on their league tables, but the law changed, so she had to.

My advice to any parents/prospective parents is: DON'T let the school bully you or your child into thinking they're inferior whatsoever. Whether it's through ailments such as ADHD, dyslexia, autism, or whatever, because it will do them injustice in the long run. It's basically a nice way of the teacher criminalising them at a young age and putting them on the scrap heap so they can protect their league tables and make them look as if they're doing something. It's no wonder that many people 'diagnosed' with these ailments end up in the criminal justice system by the time they're 16-18.
