:new: Hi everyone,
I am posting on the Crowhouse FB page, and thought it would be a good idea to weigh in with the Forum.
Around 8 years ago I dropped out of the corporate world (upper management for a large multi national company), when it became pretty evident that I was like a rat on a treadmill. Through friends and friends of friends I managed to pay the bills doing what I loved (helping people start their own online business), and took the jump 21/2 years ago to completely remove myself from the insanity and live off grid on a self sustainable property (well almost).

It has been a huge learning curve for me and I would like to offer up any advice, suggestions or information which may help others to do the same. I am sure that many can benefit from my experience.

Where I live I have no TV, radio or mobile phone reception. I stay connected to like minded people through satellite connection. Due to my husband leaving over 2 years ago, I live inn my own most of the time (I have the odd backpacker come though to help), and it's not unusual to have to look at my laptop clock to see what day it is!

Anyway... I'm happy to help. Just ask away and I hope that I can steer more people into knowing that you don;t have to be a slave to the system.

I'm sure I will have plenty to offer the forum and much prefer this avenue for discussion than FB.

Hello Silent Avatar.

Excellent to hear, you are a true pioneer:

Are you using Wind turbines, as well as Solar?
Are you growing your own Vegetables?
If so-Do you use wicking gardens?
Do you use Hydroponics?
Or - aquaponics?

I was into aquaponics before I moved up to Benarkin, Frantastic way to grow vegetables, and fish as well, ( I had silver perch, they where dinner plate size, in just over twelve months; and all I had to do was feed my fish, and they in turn fed my vegetables, which returned clean water to my fish)
I have wicking and raised Gardens up here, and may get back into the aquaponics soon, it’s so easy.

I know one thing for sure, many people are in for an extreme rude awakening, the way the system is going;
For once it crashes, at least you will be a survivor, more than I can say for the vast majority.

Best of luck in your venture.

Anyway... I'm happy to help. Just ask away and I hope that I can steer more people into knowing that you don;t have to be a slave to the system.

I'm sure I will have plenty to offer the forum and much prefer this avenue for discussion than FB.
