Hello folks! In my searches & networking, a very good gal pal of mine had mentioned Transition Towns & I thought it very practical, considering the times we're living in. I've not had a chance to read through the whole thing, but thought I would post it, as this forum seems like a great place to share this info:

I'm wanting to look into the one in my local area here:

What do you folks think of this?

I must say this looks real interesting. People have just had enough of the doom and gloom and want to have a normal life and have somewhere where they can bring their children up in a good environment with good standards and structure. Good luck to all those folks. This reminds me of the triology of books I read where their was this system, sadly in the book the communities were detroyed. The books were by John Twelve Hawks and started with 'The Traveller' and then two more 'The dark River' and then 'The Golden City'. In the books people were trying to live beneath the grid as above you were being watched as we are being watched constantly now! 8-)

I'm really hoping to contribute to this, both my fella & I have been looking into it. It's just not practical to be living the way we are anymore, I honestly believe that we are going to be living under very different circumstances within the next decade at the most. I've been listening a lot to Max's stuff & unlike most folks that do push the doom scenario, it's really important to build those strong community ties where people will help one another when the going gets tough.
I just recently moved into a co-op & am finding that the community feel is much stronger, people are way more personable & willing to help, unlike your standard city appartment buildings, where most folks don't know their next door neighbor.
I am finding, however, that a lot of folks are starting to "awaken" more to those around them & I do believe that it is spreading. Even something as simple as hearing the other day on the radio an advert for being kind to those around you. They weren't selling anything or had an agenda, as far as I could tell, beyond just being kind to those around you. I think it was www.peopleforgood.ca up here in Canada. I hope it does continue to spread, I do feel that times ahead will be difficult, but, that people do want a change. Ok, I'm on a bit of a roll, heh...
