The CrowHouse now has a dedicated IP Address.
If TheCrowHouse.com domain name falls prey to Australian Internet Censorship Laws, the site can be reached via the IP: 67.20.81.143

Hi Max. Just wanted to add something here...

Under the U.S. Cybersecurity Act of 2009 (S.773) Obama would have the right to shut down parts of the Internet in times of an emergency. As it would be impossible to disconnect all computers from the Internet, the most likely approach would be to shut down key Domain Name Servers (the computers which map a website address to their Internet address).

If this happens, typing into the address bar http://thecrowhouse.com would result in a 'web page not found' error message. However, typing in http://67.20.81.143 tells the browser where to go and will bring up the website ().

If your Domain Name Server is shut down, the 'web page not found' error message would occur for every website you request by name. Even though these same websites will most likely still be available by IP Address.

Anyone who is concerned that this could happen should record the IP addresses of the websites that they would want to access, NOW... before they are needed... Waiting until it happens will be too late, as you will not be able to request the IP addresses.

Hopefully we won't need this safety net, but at least it's there if we do.

As this is an announcement thread, I have started a new topic in the discussion threads called "Accessing websites via IP address".

I will add full details on IP addresses and try to answer questions there so we do not start a discussion here.

Hi Max,

I am using FireFox as an internet browser.

Just 5 minutes ago FireFox in partnership with Google tried to prevent me from accessing the http://thecrowhouse.com/forum.
The message on my screen displayed in red: This is an attack site.
This is the first time this has happened to me.
I chose to ignore this message by clicking the fine print.

StopBadware partners include:
Google
Mozilla
PayPal
Qualys
Verisign
Verizon
Yandex

I have noted down The CrowHouse Dedicated IP Address.
