1. QBQs begin with the words “What” or “How”, not “Why”, “When”, or “Who”.
• “Why” questions lead to complaining and victim thinking, as in, “Why is this happening to me?”
• “When” questions lead to procrastination, as in, “When are they going to get back with me?”
• “Who” questions lead to blame, as in, “Who dropped the ball?”
2. QBQs contain the word “I”, not “they”, “them”, “you” or even “we”, because I can change only me.
3. QBQs always focus on action.

One important point to keep in mind is that it is possible to apply the QBQ guidelines and still create a lousy question. For example, "How can I avoid responsibility in this matter?" or "What action can I take right now to hold the team back?" adhere to the rules, but they are certainly not constructive questions!

The underlying concept of the QBQ is this:

The answers are in the questions.

It behooves us to remember that men can never escape being governed. Either they must govern themselves or they must submit to being governed by others.

I'm listening to the recording right now; seems like the speaker has a decent handle on the name and ownership issues.

Now if only someone would cut out the filler...

Haven't had a chance to listen to these recording yet...

The newest imbatman57 talkshoe recording features first hand testimony from a peaceful inhabitant that recently helped settle a matter honorably. Make sure not to miss it...

BTW there's a "batcall" scheduled for tomorrow :)

Latest "batcall" was pretty good, I thought...

Loved the rant(s) the dude from Ucadia went on. @19min&30sec: "Those that ignore 'evil' allow it to thrive. Those that abandon the field (battlefield?) are the reason we find ourselves in such an awful world today." As is often said, they shall be known by "their" fruits...

Do you speak defensively? Are you trying to justify what you do, or don't do? If so, why?

Could it be that defending the position proves a guilty conscious? What else could be the cause?

I used to believe I defended positions because I wanted to help someone else see things how I do, but I'm starting to think asking questions could be a better tool for that purpose. Besides, could it be that by trying to make someone else see things how we do, we forget to try seeing things how they do? How will there ever be a "meeting of the minds" unless someone tries seeing things how someone else sees things by asking questions?

Even though I think I've internalized the "4 corners", I occasionally find myself defending positions through claims instead of asking questions.

New Year's Resolution: quit defending the position; ask questions instead :truce:
