I've always assumed my water was okay, because I comes from a well. True, it doesn't have flouride, but I live in a rural farming community and I'm afraid of the runoff from the fertilizers and pesticides. What would be a good reasonably priced water filter for my needs? Thanks in advance.

Any of the lower priced filters will do as you are only trying to remove fairly large particles. If your diet is fresh food and the bore water freshly pumped you don't need to worry about alkalisers or energisers.

I would have it tested if I was you - to at least establish if it is usually safe to shower in, as well as to drink. If it is dubious when you get it tested, you may want to pay the price for a large simple unit that removes particles from all your house water, not just your drinking water.

The next step down is the under sink units through which you can draw drinking water from the tap any time you want it.

Then if you are really broke, the jug with a filter in it that you buy from the supermarket, is better than nothing and can be useful in emergencies and when you are travelling.

The water that we are drinking came from a deep well, too. However, we are far from the city nor in a farm that uses pesticides and fertilizer. Maybe you should use water filter before drinking that water which comes from your well. Remember that unsafe water is dangerous to our health and can cause different illnesses.

some good info there, but me personally,i only or most regulary use 2 water distillers.
Pure,tastes like it,s pure,just good healthy water.

I think if you go to the max and straight to the best way of doing things, you have the best success i guess.

Would you say I'm okay boiling the water first and then bottling it up in the fridge? Or do I have to buy a filter? :drunk:

Boiling water only gets rid of bacteria and organisms. It doesn't filter out harmful chemicals or metals. You still need to filter out your water to get rid the more subtle harmful stuff.

Distilling is the best way to remove everything. Make sure you use glass bottles and glass tubing, not copper because of copper oxide. Problem is that after the process there are no natural minerals because this method results in water in its purest form, so you would have to take vitamins and minerals to compensate for the loss. Another way is to use a filtration system comprising of sand, charcoal and unglazed ceramic plates or pellets, this should be housed in a stainless steel container, the water after the filter should have stainless steel pipes to flow through as well. Hope that helps.

Reverse osmosis is pretty good but can be expensive in the long run because you would need too many sets to avoid chemicals and the like, fluoride and other nasties also gets absorbed through the skin so showering in distilled water stop that. Distilling is slower but gives the best results, this can be done to any scale depending on your budget and how much you wish to avoid these toxins.
