Hi Everyone :greet:

I wanted to share information about Earthships and Mike Reynolds and Crew.
The thing I love the most about them is that they are solution based people who accomplish things through direct action. Check them out.

Earthships are awesome. I actually helped in the building of an earthship for a couple of days some 15 years ago. It was far from completion at the time but was still very impressive, as the owner explained the basics of system.

I have nothing but respect for these guys. What I love the most is that they go into these 3rd world countries and disaster zones and not only build demo's but educate the people how to become independent and make them on their own. Leo, where did you participate in building one?

It was in a beautful stretch of wilderness in southern Indiana. The closest town is Needmore which is just north of Bedford, (if you know where that is). The property had been bought by a group of people who pooled their resources and set up a trust or foundation, something like that. They called the place Lothlorian. I thought for a little while that I had found my "people". But after a few months of going there on my weekends off the ego battles between them attemping to cause me to choose sides, ran me off.

The earthship was to be the dwelling of one of the founding members who assumed the leadership roll. Though as it was presented to me in the begining, there was no real "leader". The whole interprise was directed by a council of elders they called it, which infact were the seven founding members. The elders were each allotted 1/2 an acre to build on. Anyone could buy a membership that would allow them to attend the five or six festivals put on each year, sit it on council meetings, help with projects and just come and camp on the weekends. Any member could be asked to become an elder and be granted 1/2 an acre and a voice in the council. When I came along the organization had been in existance only a few years and at that time no members had been elevated to elder status.

What's most interesting to me is that I have been thinking for the past month or so that I should go back there and see how things may have changed. :D

Human ego does tend to mess things up. We start out with good, even grand intentions, but inevitably give in to ego, pride, greed and fear. Most of us are too weak to live in a leaderless society.

I like the Earthships, they are a very interesting idea. But I think I must do without the communities for now. It would probably work out better if people built their habitats amidst an existing community and then lead by example. No organized leadership, just people living the way they feel life ought to be lived and letting that be the example for others to either follow or not follow. Live your life by the rules you preach without trying to impose those rules upon others. Let the light of truth be what guides others.

Remember, only you can save you. Meaning, you can't save others. They have to save themselves. All you can do is help and show them the way. It's that whole, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink" sort of idea.

I think I may have gone off on a tangent, sorry about that...

I couldnt agree more about that. I, for the life of me, can't figure out why thats been so hard for us as a human race to accomplish. Why everyone thinks they are the only ones who are right and everyone has to be exactly like them. Unity is when everyone comes together yet retains their individual identity, and respect one another for who they choose to be.

Fear. People fear that which they do not understand and they fear that which is different. All we really need to do is get over this irrational fear of ours.

I really appreciate your insight and perspective Spanky. :) Not just in this post but everywhere I've seen you offer it. Thanks. :D

Jamilah, the possiblity that you may have overlooked the effect of fear on most, causing all this irrational behavior, (to me) is but one piece of evidence from many, proving something I noticed about you early on. Your fearlessness. :D And it is very good to see. ;)

Right on! And by changing ourselves from within and letting it reflect out truly is the most powerful thing we can do here to bring about change. We've got to lead through example, words can be powerless if they're not filled with action. And we've got to remember that there really arent any followers here, were all leaders helping each other along the way.

Well, I think if anyone had my life (which I agreed to and choose before I came here) they would also be fearless! People used to ask me why I'm always chasing after death and what I'm gonna do when I catch him. (I was a federally certified firefighter and used to run into burning building when other people are running out, I am a skydiver, jumping out of airplanes , not for adrenaline, but for relaxation... and I choose to give up my comfortable life in America to live in Occupied East Jerusalem...) Anyway, my answer always was "Catch him? Well, hopefully I'll go up to the next level" but the truth is that I never really thought I'd catch him, he's way too fast for me....lol. I even heard a rumor that he doesnt really exist and I'm only chasing shadows...lol.

The truth is inside of every single person. We are eternal beings with magnificent powers and amazing beauty. Every single one of us is beautiful and amazing. We all have a divine spark of the Infinite's (God, source... etc...) power. This spark is our true existence, it's who we really are. To fear another human being would be to fear myself. Plus it's much more fun to see all the different "Me's" in the world, and I truly can see a piece of myself in everyone. Walking around in fear of everyone/everything is like living in a caged hell... The vast beauty that exists here is for all of us to enjoy and celebrate. That's why I love solution based people who are involved with direct action, like Mike Reynolds, Ken O'Keefe, and of course my favorite:Max Igan, because the quicker we wake everyone up to these deeper truths and spread out the resources and bring equality back into the picture the sooner we can truly enjoy this planet God gave us... What an awesome gift it is! Thank you God :)

Blessings of deep inner peace and endless wavers of Loves eternal pure light to everyone!
