Out of all the different ways i have come across to build a house or a shed / garage etc...
There is nothing i have found to be as economical / quick to build and strong.. With a life of up to 400 years as this....

All you need is woven polypropylene tube about 18" in diameter when filled,,,, a few sacks of cement or lime.. plus a roll or two of barbed wire.. Put these items together with the earth under your feet, You can build anything from a shed to a shopping mall..

I reckon you can build a house with around 5 bedrooms for less than the cost of a good hd tv set.

I think i have found a supplier of the tubing in the uk.. I can pass on the details to anyone that is interested ,, But i am waiting for a sample to be sent to me before giving it the ok.

This construction was tested to a monstrous 6.5 in california with no signs of weakening..

I think your average condo will bite the dust before this even notices..

Steel re-inforcement will just make a strong thing stronger.. Beware of lightning bolts though..

Nuclear fall out as i understand, acts pretty much like dust that would do you damage if you came into contact with it on the skin or through breathing in the particles...

So yes,,,, Providing the windows and doors are properly sealed and you have the appropriate particulate filter attached to the structure there would be a much better chance of you surviving than you would in a conventional house...or even a cave.

I would also have a look at potassium . Fullers earth,,, And bentonite clay for further measures against nuclear contamination.. Protect your thyroid gland..

I would go so far as to say that i would trust this construction in a direct explosive blast above any other building i know of.. Just because of its aerodynamic shape combined with the fact that the materials used turns as hard as concrete...

If you are particularly paranoid about explosions and bombs, I would also suggest that you sink the dome into the ground by about a meter, Then re-inforce over the top with steel ,,, Girders if you like,, Then build another layer of tubing over the whole thing.. Your doorway will be about 3 or 4 feet thick of solid concrete and steel.. This level of security will withstand a direct hit from a tank.

If landscaping permits,, You could also sink one side of the dome into a hillside if you so wished,, This would make it easy to camoflage the remaider of the building with branches and bushes.

It would be a good idea also to build your internal furniture using the adobe tubing,, Wardrobes, breakfast bar, kitchen units , shower cubicle, etc, As this would give the overall structure extra strength against any outside forces...

It would also be a good idea to think about a would be cataclysm where the dome could be submerged under water for a day or two... The dome if built correctly will be water tight and air tight... Think about installing oxygen cylinders making sure that you put an outward valve in the construction for relieving the pressure...

If you are thinking about oxygen tanks, Then be aware that you have to cap off your particulate filter before the water hits.

Try not to think about the negative too much... Just build as to what you are comfortable with..

This is amazing everyone should be living in these houses, self-sufficient dome communities it would be great.
Are you purchasing your supplies and blueprints/dvd/book from cal-earth
or will u be designing the domes yourself and purchasing the supplies from other sources.
I am interested in watching the dvd off the trailer on the youtube link or other dvd's on the subject.
Do u know anywhere i can download these for free ?

Be sure to take photo's and document your progress ( e.g cost,time taken,methods ) as it would be very interesting.
Its may 5th so i am guessing u may have already started.

man I gotta build me one of those it would be so sweet just fit it with some solar panels and a water collector and purifier and you would be laughing. And hey if you wanted to make it nuclear fallout resistant just fill the sand bags up lead fillings. I have no idea how much that would cost but it would no doubt do the trick.

I found a torrent for the eco-dome movie plus 4 others by the same people buuuut it is 4.94gigs with 10 seeders and 34 leechers.... so it will take forever to download... the eco-dome video by itself is over a gig.

The lead is an idea , but i reckon the cost and transportation might be a bit much..

I have been delayed a little bit from getting to spain but expect to be there on the 16th may to start searching for the land to start building these things on.

Anyone interested in this project that happens to be around the Aragon area of Spain would be quite welcome to come chat with me...

What we need to do is buy some land and build a community of these homes and make it 100% self sufficient, grow all our own food and utilize renewable energy. Would that not be the ultimate non compliance or what.

To update..

I am in Aragon, Spain. near the village of Arens.

Have looked at a few plots of land to start building on and am going through the expence and
red tape of the Spanish authorities to make it happen legally..
Its looking good so far as everyone that has seen the plans for this gets exited about it ..(especially the architect)
As i am doing this using my last bit of cash i have got to be carefull with how i handle things...

I will come back to this site as soon as i get the go ahead to start building and would welcome anyone to come and learn the process as a volunteer....
