Im wondering what peoples thoughts are on Falun Gong(Falun Dafa).

It's something ive been interested in for a while and have read Zhuan Falun a few times and i really like its philosophy as it comes across as a very peaceful and harmonious way of living but i have never really brought myself into it as much as i think i would like too.

Ive had a few negative comments from people about the practice of Falun Gong and though i do tend to disagree with them it has made me skeptical about it all and might be the reason why i shy away from it so often.

So im wondering if anyone here knows anything about this and it would be really great to hear anyones thoughts and opinions.

The Buddha Fa is most profound;
among all the theories in the world, it is the
most intricate and extraordinary science.

In order to explore this domain, humankind must fundamentally change its conventional thinking. Otherwise, the truth of the universe will forever remain a mystery to humankind, and everyday people will forever crawl within the boundary delimited by their own ignorance."

-- Master Li Hongzhi, from "Lunyu,"

I have no idea my friend, never heard if it before until I read your post, but I like what Master Li said above.
Did you know that Falun Gong was banned by the Chinese government in 1999 and labeled as an 'evil cult'. Practitioners were put into slave labour and even tortured for 'disturbing social order'.

Can't say I have heard of it but judging by the name I am going to take a wild guess and say it is an eastern philosophy/pher. My minor in university is philosophy so I am always interested in looking up new philosophers, so I will check it out and get back to you.

Falun Gong is one manifestation of Chi Gong. All Chi Gong is a practice by the individual to collect and use universal energy. It is part of the sequence that starts with Chi Gong, which is essentially to collect energy for health and healing (round movements), goes through Tai Chi, which introduces straight movements and is preparatory to the fighting martial arts. A really good chi gong practitioner does not need to learn the martial arts, as they will access the fighting skills of their particular discipline (by occult processes) if required.

All chi gong is nominally peaceful, but is nonetheless a practice that can lead very easily to unarmed combat, which made the pre-capitalist Chinese government very nervous. All the other chi gong traditions ARE overtly peaceful. However, the Chinese government has been repressing Falun Gong specifically as it is overtly anti government. As a practitioner, you collect energy for your own benefit, but a portion is re-directed (by occult processes) to the Falun Gong cause in China.

The other problem with Falun Gong in the West is it is passed from western practitioner to western practitioner, and loses its connection to its source. It becomes corrupted. I have watched groups in parks doing moves that could have no Chi Gong value whatsoever, and I have also watched them doing very bad rip-offs of other traditions. When I approached one group and told them they were doing the Nine Lin Yuan, which belongs to another tradition, and offered to teach them properly, they told me it was Falun Gong and not the Nine Lin Yuan. It is vastly different and bears no resemblance whatever to the Falun Gong sets (which I have also learned).

The tradition is important in Chi Gong from an occult point of view, so it is wise to find a good lineage that stays true to its roots. If you are interested in Chi Gong, find a Chinese master who visits China regularly and has retained connections with lineage, a male master for men and a female master for women, as the disciplines are different.

There are almost always small groups of peaceful demonstrators in the China town area of Sydeny holding up large banners depicting images of people, friends and relatives that have been kidnapped and tortured by the Chinese government and many not heard or seen again for practicing Falun Gong there.

The same is true in Vancouver. I was out there last year, and this is when I first heard about the oppression of the Falun Gong practitioners. There is a large movement in that city to bring awareness to the issue.
